Our Story:
Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. (CPI) is the worldwide leader in evidence‑based de‑escalation and crisis prevention training and dementia care services. Our programs teach professionals the skills to recognize, prevent, and respond to crises in the workplace. Since 1980, we’ve helped train more than 17 million people across service‑oriented industries including education, health care, behavioral health, long‑term care, human services, security, corporate, and retail.
At CPI, we are dedicated to changing behaviors and reducing conflict for the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security of everyone. We believe empathy, meaningful connections, personal safety, and security are the antidotes to fear and anxiety. This philosophy is central to everything we do and traces back to our beginning.

As a member of the team, you can expect to:
  • Make a difference through your work — You’ll be proud to tell your family and friends what you do.
  • Gain significant career experience within a fast‑growing organization — From entry‑level roles to executive leadership.
  • Feel fulfilled and have fun — We work hard but make time to build meaningful relationships and celebrate wins.
The Role:
The Director of Content & Production Operations leads the team and systems that turn CPI’s product roadmap into high-quality training that is localized, tailorable, and fast to market, as CPI shifts to digital-first, print-supported learning materials. This player-coach owns both the LCMS content model that enables reuse and variants and the production operation that builds and ships every format from a single source.

What You Get to Do Every Day:
  • Design and own CPI’s content model in the LCMS, including component structure, metadata, taxonomy, and reuse and variant rules. One source should be tailorable by industry and audience, localizable by language, and publishable to eLearning, digital, and print outputs.
  • Lead the LCMS partnership: implementation direction, roadmap influence, and escalation.
  • Lead and develop a team of eLearning developers, a senior multimedia specialist, an LMS administrator, and a Learning Standards & Compliance Lead to build CPI’s training content.
  • Translate the product roadmap into a production plan. Sequence builds and updates against committed release dates, and flag capacity risk early.
  • Partner with training product teams, product management, and program managers on intake, scope, and release timing. Partner with software product teams on LCMS, authoring, and platform requirements.
  • Run intake and specification gating so work enters production ready to build, and send back work that isn’t.
  • Partner with program manager to run production in agile methodologies. Measure cycle time and rework, and shorten time to market without lowering quality.
  • Enforce instructional quality, brand, accessibility, and compliance standards at the point of authoring rather than in end-of-line review.
  • Own the production capacity model, forecasting, and cost per output unit. Provide capacity to Custom Solutions at a published internal rate.
  • Manage third-party production partners on scope, service levels, and unit economics.
  • Lead the foundational content model, templates, and workflows in year one while scaling the team to own them.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned.

What You Won't Own:
  • What CPI trains (learning objectives, curriculum, instructional design). You will heavily partner with Product Management.
  • The visual design system, which is owned by UX Design & Research.
  • Engineering and platform infrastructure, which sit in the Technology organization.

You Need to Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in information science, technical communication, instructional technology, or a related field. Equivalent experience considered.
  • 10+ years in content, production, or delivery operations, including 5+ years leading teams.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a structured or component-based content model.
  • Production LCMS/CCMS experience, including partnering with a vendor on implementation.
  • Production or delivery operations leadership in content, agency, media, or services.
  • Third-party vendor management, including holding partners to commitments.
  • Capacity planning and forecasting under variable demand.
  • Comfort declining incomplete requests from senior stakeholders.
  • Judgment to iterate on validation but not on the foundation. The first version of a content model must be substantially right.
  • Ability to explain architecture decisions to executives in terms of cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Working knowledge of SCORM, WCAG AA, and multi-output publishing (print, PDF, LMS).

We’d Love to See:
  • Localization at the structural level.
  • Standing up a capability that did not previously exist.
  • Xyleme or a comparable XML-based authoring environment.
  • Training, certification, or regulated-content environments.
What We Offer:
  • Comprehensive compensation package
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • 401k
  • PTO
  • Health & Wellness Days
  • Paid Volunteer Time Off
  • Continuing education and training
  • Hybrid / Remote work schedule
  • Paid Parental Leave

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
